Ang Chee Sia Ong Temple, Ayer Rajah

This temple is named after An Ji Shen Wang (Ang Chee Sia Ong).

Translated from a plaque outside the temple:

“Wang Kang was a high-ranking official of the kingdom of Shu Han – one of the three kingdoms in Chinese history. Being an upright and honest official, he was deeply respected by the people. He was given the title of An Ji Shen Wang (Ang Chee Sia Ong) after his death and a temple was built to honour him.”

The main hall is of the temple is dedicated to the Chinese goddess Mazu. Various other deities are enshrined at this temple including Guan Yin, Doumu and Confucius.

Opposite the temple, at the Ayer Rajah Food Centre, eat one of the best Indian Rojaks in Singapore. There are two. The jury is out on which is the better between Habib’s Rojak and Abdhus Salam.
